Just steps from the finish line, still catching his breath, Arlington’s John Mueller didn’t have a ton of time to reflect. But he still found a moment of clarity and an honest assessment of his race. “I didn’t even know I could do that,” Mueller said.
Aisling Cuffe decided that she would follow Suffern senior Shelby Greany. Smart plan. Greany is a three-time Foot Locker national finalist. Cuffe, in her rookie cross country season, was on the course for the first time. They zipped across the field at Bowdoin Park and started up the steady, grueling hills when Cuffe thought to herself the very thing that is making her the breakout star of the season.
Today Cornwall sophomore Aisling Cuffe is one of the top cross country runners in the state. Less than a year ago, she was a freshman race walker with no cross country experience.
